Hi everyone! My name is Charles Taylor, but my friends usually call me Charlie. If you read anything on this site, chances are that you have already stumbled upon one of my articles or news pieces. You see, I have been visiting casinos for a very long time, and I managed to turn my passion into my profession. The online casino industry started getting popular more than two decades ago, and I was there right from the start. For more than 15 years, I have been actively following news related to the gambling industry, not only in Australia but in the entire world. I want to share my brief career history with you, as I’m sure you’ll find my story interesting.

The Beginning of My Casino Career

Back in the 2000s, I was fascinated by poker. Like many young people of my age, I had an opportunity to watch Chris Moneymaker making a miracle while being broadcast live on TV. That was my entrance to the world of poker, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that poker isn’t really what I liked. I started playing poker pretty soon after the legendary WSOP took place. I made an account on an online gambling platform, as I was fairly certain that the term ‘pokies’ related to poker. Truth be told, I had no idea what pokies are, having grown up in an area with no connection to casinos whatsoever. I soon realized that I enjoy pokies much more than poker. All of a sudden, I started exploring the ever-growing offer of online video slots, and that’s when I actually started following the news related to the industry. After hundreds of slots played, I switched to blackjack, then to baccarat, and then to roulette. At one point, I was familiar with every single strategy of every casino game that was offered in Australian casinos.

My Inside Casino Experience

I visited land-based casinos as well, but my focus was mainly on online platforms. As a matter of fact, I even worked with one online casino team. At the start of my career, I mainly did some grunt work, like filling out some forms related to the casino. However, my manager noticed that I was very passionate about the industry, so he decided to give me a localization job. What I basically had to do was localize the offer of games based on preferences in certain countries. Since I was pretty good with language, I had an opportunity to write casino-related content, and I was the chief blog writer for the casino. What I didn’t like about this job is that it was mainly related to one casino only, and I had a pretty different idea myself, which made me quit the job and start a site of my own — the site you’re on right now.

Working as a Journalist

After I ended my relatively short career as an insight casino man, I wanted to switch to something else that’s more related to journalism and writing in general. My next job was like a dream for me, as my work included writing news related to Las Vegas and Macau. I don’t want to brag, but I visited both places during my days as a journalist and learned a lot about the corporate side of gaming. I started to understand how the industry works on a large scale and what casinos do in order to stay competitive on the market. This is also the first time I learned how to value online casinos, as part of my job included reviewing casinos. As soon as I gained all the knowledge I needed, I decided it was time to part ways with my team. With inside experience as a worker in the casino industry and vast knowledge gained during my journalism career, I was more than prepared to start the project I was dreaming about for a very long time.

Starting My Website

Having learned a lot about almost every single online casino that was available in Australia, I decided to make a website that will help fellow casino lovers find suitable casinos for them. To be honest, I had no idea how to make a website, but I had the will to do it. Luckily, my pokies passion paid off at one point when I managed to win a pretty hefty jackpot in a land-based casino that I visited with friends. As soon as I won the money, I found a web developer who helped me make the site. I also did a lot of design myself, but I sent it all to my friend Mike who is a graphic designer who improved it all and gave me useful advice on how to design my site. This way, I want to thank him for all the support and patience he has had during the last couple of years. On ya mate, I owe ya! After the site was ready, it was the time for the essential part, and that’s creating the content for it. What I did was to make a list of all the casinos that are available in Australia (and believe me, I know all of them). After that, I narrowed down the list to what I think are the best casinos offering top-notch games and other services. Of course, I didn’t do all that by myself, as I have a team of casino experts that are closely working with me and checking all the information. Everything you can see on the site is a result of my work and my knowledge. However, I also want to thank my team for their hard work and immense passion that they share toward casino games, just like me. As you can see on the site, I also do a little bit of journalism, writing news related to Australian casinos, the casino industry, legislation, and more. Feel free to check out the site and pick out the casino that seems most interesting to you!
